1960 Bugeye Sprite for sale! Add this excellent restored classic to your life for maximum fun!
Way to go Stephen and congratulations! Heading to West Virginia to your door shortly!
This is a Bugeye called “Coleman,” a 1960 Austin Healey Sprite that was the subject of a multi-year rotisserie restoration. Both the topside AND underside are immaculate, with any rusty metal removed, new metal welded in place and everything then recoated in striking bright red. There is absolutely no rust anywhere on this car. Everything was completely disassembled and rebuilt. The interior is brand new. This is an excellent restored car.

Coleman is car number AN5L 19180. He shows 61,615 miles on the clock. The car has been upgraded to front disk brakes. We’ve fit our ignition switch guillotine to properly secure the ignition switch. He also has a locking gas cap and cigarette lighter so you can charger your BugIphone or your GPS. The car has been converted to negative ground. Everything else is stock.
He drives great with excellent braking. The seats are comfortable with all new foam. He has a new top and we’ll post some pictures with the top us shortly. No side windows or tonneau, but we can fit these for the new owner if so desired. The heater was not yet installed, but we can put one in for the new owner, or leave it out if you live in a year-round warm climate.
The price for Coleman is $27,995. He’s currently fit with a 948 engine shown in the photos but with the high quality of this package and the disk brakes already upgraded, we’ll put in a new rebuilt 1275 engine for the new owner at no extra charge. The engine in the car was not rebuilt and shows a bit lower oil pressure than we would like to see, so we’ll upgrade the engine and fix that to complete Coleman’s restoration. Our rebuilt engine will provide excellent power and longevity. By putting in a new engine, this restoration will truly be complete in every way. It would cost a lot more to build a Bugeye like this from scratch!
And if you instead simply need a Bugeye to putter around the neighborhood, this particular 948 engine should be fine for quite some time. We will sell the car with this engine at a discount if that’s a preferred route for you… Call or email to discuss making Coleman yours!
