1960 Austin Healey Bugeyed Sprite for sale-Striking rotisserie restoration!
Now sold! Congratulations Ron, and Rocky will soon come to Rhode Island !
We’ve mounted new wide white walls tires and an Olde English White tonneau to match, perfect for hot climates. If you live where a black tonneau would cook in the hot sun, this a really nice alternative to keep your Sprite cool. These new BF Goodrich radial wide white walls ride great! And we’ve left the black wall tire pictures up on this post so you can see plenty of photos of the great restoration of this car. Also, a few new restoration pictures are added in the gallery so you can see the care that went into the total restoration of this Bugeye.
If you like fantastic restored cars, this one is for you. This car (AN5L 9720-built in 1959, titled/first sold in 1960) was extensively restored on a rotisserie, with the underside almost as immaculate as the top side. All rust was cut out with new metal welded in so this is a great Bugeye that has been completely gone through.
“Roz” was built in Roswell, Georgia, a multi-year project that included a full strip down to bare metal with an impressive respray in correct leaf green with an excellent modern high-dollar base clear coat finish. We have sanded and buffed the paint and it is certainly better than any Bugeye that ever came from the factory, and shines beautifully.

The car was fit with disk brakes and a 1275 engine and rebuilt four-speed ribcase transmission from a later Midget, so the performance is great too.
The interior is all new and was fit with handsome coordinating Frogeye green seats and carpet from England. Dashboard was recovered as well, with all the switches and dials in the right places, and the interior and engine bay are excellent. Also noteworthy is the correct green ribbed door liner. We have black liner available, but it has to be painted green to match the correct lining. It’s nicely done on this car!
As with all the cars we purchase, there has been quite a bit of sorting out done to make this great restoration actually work properly. We’ve gone through all the systems to make sure the kinks were addressed. We’ve just replaced the water pump and aligned the front end. Roz still needs a heater if the car heads to a cold climate (which we can add) and could use a restored steering wheel of the new owner’s choice. We have expanded our steering wheel offerings and there are many choices available for this important tactile component of a fine English sports car. Air filters should also be upgraded, and we have those too.
We welcome partnership with the new buyer of this great car, and a final fit-out to their specifications.
We welcome Roz to our inventory of Bugeyes for sale (click “current inventory” in the right margin of this page to see the line up). This is the perfect car for anyone who wants a top-shelf show-quality Bugeye they can also drive and enjoy, with upgraded power and brakes and a brand new interior.
