“Shelby,” custom 1960 Bugeye Sprite for sale–mini Cobra!

Sold to Bill, the third Bugeye he has purchased from us. Everyone needs at least three. Congratulations!!!

NEW!!! White wheels are GONE. Silver wheels are back on. The new buyer for LEO the yellow bugeye liked the white wheels on his car, so we swapped them for the new silver wheels and tires that were on Leo. Everyone wins. Leo looks better with the white wheels because that car is a lighter color. This car looks better with silver wheels as now pictured. Now Shelby looks extra hot. We all like it better with the silver wheels. Do you?

This stunning custom Bugeye was one of the three Bugeyes featured in the Hemmings September 2013 Sports and Exotics Bugeye cover story (you can read it in the right margin of this page). The paint is excellent and the body has been smoothed and modified for a very clean look. Interior is also freshly refinished in matching blue leather with white piping. (click “read more” to see photo album below)

Shelby has a 1275 engine, disk brakes, new fuel tank, Weber down draft carburetor and strong twin-tipped exhaust with a sweet note. There is no other Bugeye quite like it, with a custom license plate mount, seams removed, turn signals housings removed (they’re now integrated in the brake lights and in the grill) and custom roll bar. There is a strong market for custom Bugeyes and stock ones too. Both segments co-exist nicely, and the buyer for this car is someone who wants a performance and show Bugeye that is extreme eye-candy.

We completed the car for Scott in April of 2013. It was an impressive build with new tires, new wheels, an entire new interior with new navy carpet, side panels, door pockets, custom blue leather seats with white piping, new leather dashboard and my favorite, original Smiths gauges re-screen printed with white bezels to match the car. Scott could have gone with white VDO or other brand gauges, but he chose to keep things British to better complement the car.

We fully serviced the car at that time and Scott put 364 miles on this beauty since then (he has a large collection, so none get driven too much). She’s ready for a new owner! If you like show-stopping custom classic cars, this is a great and rare find!

You can see more details of this car in the video below. White wheels are shown in this video. Those wheels have left on another car, so Shelby has new silver shoes now, as shown in pictures below.
