“Fletch,” a 1960 Race Bugeye made street legal rocket!

Now sold! Thank you Bill!

We sold this Bugeye recently to a great client, who had us completely transform this cool ex-racer for a new life on the street. Now, he’s asked us to sell it for him so here’s a chance to purchase his very cool transformed racer. Bill upgraded everything in the car to make a steetable machine that would turn heads, so the new owner gets a fantastic rust free racer that has had all systems upgraded for a life in “retirement.”

There’s nothing dull about it!

We built up this car with lots of fun accessories… for example, the new racing flip up fuel cap hides a locking gas cap, safe for life on the street. Wide racing lap belts echo the car’s heritage. LED lights all around help make sure the car is visible on modern roadways. In fact, we recommend that the park lights are used for daytime running lights, just like with a modern car.

We mounted an original Smiths fuel gauge under the dash (there wasn’t one in this race car prior to our modifications). We set up the e brake, put in electronic ignition, put in an air horn, rigged twin brooklands screens, installed new seats, put in a shift insert for rigid shifting while retaining traditional appearance, installed k and n lifetime air filters, put on a custom tonneau fit to the roll bar, and installed rubber floor mats. We also put in a premium battery, rigged a neat dashboard kill switch with a lanyard to retain the key, and rigged an electric thermostatically activated cooling fan, as well as a deluxe 5 blade engine driven fan. Aluminum radiator was already in place when we got the car. We did remove the super stiff and low rear tube shocks and put in new stock lever shocks for a better ride. The speedo was just replaced and shows 4 miles… not original mileage, but I bet this was a low mileage car, since it was only driven on race weekends.

The car was already very well prepared for the track. It’s fast! But with the mods we’ve made and a great free flow exhaust, the car is now very street friendly.

Thousands have been invested. The car is a missile, with a 1098 race engine and hot cam. Tires are new. Everything works. This car is really fun!
